日语讲师

Language Lecturer in Japanese

岗位信息 Responsibilities and Duties

Applications are invited for Japanese language teaching positions in the School of Language at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). Candidates are sought as soon thereafter as possible. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis.

There will be opportunities for Japanese language lecturer to be involved in a range of different types of delivery, including:

1. Compulsory credit-bearing Japanese language modules on the university’s “International Business with a Language” BA degree programme, which allows students to study Japanese continuously through their degree up to CEFR B2 level.

2. Optional credit-bearing Japanese language modules available to undergraduate students.

3. Out-of-class Japanese language support activities.

As we expand the Japanese language offering at XJTLU we would also look to offer the following in future:

1. Japanese language courses that are an optional component of postgraduate degrees.

2. Coordination of content for an overseas summer Japanese immersion programme in Japan.

3. Non credit-bearing JPLT focused courses.

There will also be the opportunity for a member of the Japanese teaching team to take on a managerial role with responsibility for the coordination and leadership of the Japanese teaching programmes. Additionally, there are opportunities for all staff to develop their careers by taking on wider managerial and administrative roles, as well as by contributing to both School of Language and university-level committees. All managerial, administrative and committee roles are appointed to on a fixed-term basis, thus providing all staff members with a range of options to take on responsibilities in areas that interest them.

岗位要求Qualifications/Experience

Successful applicants should be educated to Master’s degree level in a relevant area (e.g. Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language), and should have at least two years of post-master’s relevant teaching experience, preferably at university level. Additionally, applicants should have a good standard of written and spoken English, as this is the working language of the university.

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from teachers with experience of communication-focused learning/teaching, using highly interactive textbooks or materials. Applicants who can demonstrate an interest in the following areas: Technology enhanced learning; Assessment, syllabus and materials design; Student-centred learning; Autonomous learning are also particularly welcome. Having been involved in establishing Japanese programmes at an early stage of their development is an advantage.

西班牙语讲师

Language Lecturer in Spanish

Candidates are sought for Feburary 2023 start date.

There will be opportunities for Spanish language lecturers to be involved in a range of different types of delivery and contributions to SPA Division, such as:

1. Teaching compulsory credit-bearing Spanish language modules on the university’s “International Business with a Language” BA degree programme and others.

2. Teaching optional credit-bearing Spanish language modules available to undergraduate students.

3. Delivering Spanish language courses that are an optional component of postgraduate degrees.

4. Engaging with Continuing support Spanish language activities.

5. Engaging with exciting overseas Summer Spanish immersion programmes in Spain and locally at Suzhou.

6. Contributing to official accreditation of students in Spanish as foreign language (SIELE, DELE).

There may be also opportunities to take on managerial roles with responsibility for the coordination of the Spanish teaching programmes. Additionally, there are opportunities for all staff to develop their careers by taking on wider managerial and administrative roles, as well as by contributing to both MLC and University-level committees. All managerial, administrative and committee roles are appointed to on a fixed-term basis, thus providing all staff members with a range of options to take on responsibilities in areas that interest them.

岗位要求 Qualifications/Experience

Successful applicants should be native or near-native speakers of Spanish language, holding a Master’s degree level in a Hispanic-related relevant area (e.g. Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language; Hispanic Studies; Latin American Studies), and should have at least two years of post-master’s relevant teaching experience at University level.

Additionally, applicants should have a good standard of written and spoken English, as this is the working language of the university. Previous experience on delivering official assessment of Spanish Language, such as SIELE and/or DELE and experience with summer language-programmes are desirable too. Demonstrable experience with online teaching as well as the ability to manage online lesson-planning and delivery through the currently trend, educational apps and software is a plus.
